Naturally tumbled Shungite in a 1.5–2.5cm size, displaying a deep matte to semi-glossy black finish with a smooth, polished surface and the slightly uneven texture characteristic of genuine Shungite. Each piece varies in shape and surface sheen. A popular choice for crystal collections, display bowls, and decorative styling.
Shungite is an ancient carbon-rich mineraloid found almost exclusively in the Shunga village region of Karelia, Russia, from which it takes its name. It is composed primarily of carbon (up to 98% in elite/noble grade) in a unique molecular structure that includes fullerene-like carbon clusters. Shungite has been mined in Russia for centuries and was historically used as a pigment under the names “carbon black” and “shungite natural black.” It forms in Precambrian sedimentary rock estimated to be approximately 2 billion years old.
