Larimar Bead Bracelet 8mm
A stretch bead bracelet featuring 8mm round Larimar beads in soft sky blue to pale aqua tones with natural white and grey matrix patterning. Each bracelet varies in the depth of blue and distribution of matrix markings, reflecting the natural variation of genuine Larimar. A refined and wearable piece, suited to everyday wear or as a considered gift.
Larimar is a rare blue variety of pectolite (sodium calcium silicate hydroxide), found exclusively in the Dominican Republic. Its distinctive sky blue to turquoise colouring is caused by the substitution of copper for calcium within the mineral structure. First documented in 1916 and rediscovered in 1974, Larimar takes its name from a combination of Larissa — the daughter of the Dominican who rediscovered it — and mar, the Spanish word for sea. It is one of the rarest gemstones in the world, mined from a single known deposit in the Barahona Province.
