Variscite Tumbled
Polished Variscite tumbled stones with a soft sage to mid-green colour and a smooth satin polish. These display the characteristic Variscite appearance — a mottled green base with dark brown-black matrix veining running through each stone, giving every piece a distinctive natural patterning. Larger pieces at approximately 3–3.5cm. Sold per stone.
Variscite is a hydrated aluminium phosphate mineral that forms in arid regions where phosphate-rich water reacts with aluminium-bearing rocks. Its green colour is caused by chromium and vanadium impurities. It is often confused with Turquoise due to its similar green colour and matrix veining, but is a distinct mineral. Quality Variscite with strong colour and well-defined matrix is relatively uncommon in tumbled form.
