Ruby Tumbled 2.5-3cm

Polished natural Ruby tumbled stones — corundum in matrix with a deep plum-purple to dark red-brown colour and a high-gloss polish. These are natural Ruby specimens in host rock matrix, displaying the characteristic deep colour and opacity of natural Ruby corundum. Visible matrix inclusions and natural internal fracture lines are part of the stone's natural character. Sold per stone, approximately 2.5–3cm.

Ruby is a variety of corundum (aluminium oxide) coloured red by chromium impurities. It is one of the hardest minerals (Mohs 9), second only to Diamond. Natural Ruby in matrix form — as seen here — shows the stone in its natural geological context, with the surrounding host rock still present. The deep plum-purple tone of these specimens is characteristic of natural Ruby corundum from metamorphic deposits.
