Larvikite Tumble
Polished Larvikite tumbled stones with a dark charcoal-grey base and a high-gloss finish that reveals the stone's characteristic coarse-grained feldspar crystal mosaic. Under direct light, Larvikite displays a blue-grey schiller effect (labradorescence) caused by light reflecting off the interlocking feldspar crystals within the igneous matrix.
Larvikite is an igneous rock (a type of monzonite) quarried in the Larvik region of Norway, where it has been commercially mined since the late 1800s. It is sometimes called "Norwegian Moonstone" due to its schiller effect, though it is mineralogically distinct from true Moonstone. Sold per stone, approximately 2.5–3cm.
