Gold Tiger Eye Tumbled 1.5-2cm
Polished Gold Tiger Eye tumbled stones with a warm golden-brown colour and the characteristic silky chatoyant banding clearly visible across each stone. The high-gloss polish enhances the stone's natural lustre and the shifting light effect (chatoyancy) that Tiger Eye is known for. Sold per stone, approximately 1.5–2cm.
Tiger Eye is a variety of quartz with a fibrous, silky structure caused by the replacement of crocidolite (blue asbestos) fibres by silica during formation. The golden-brown colour comes from iron oxide staining of the remaining fibres. The chatoyant effect — the silky, shifting band of light that moves across the surface — is caused by light reflecting off the parallel fibrous structure within the stone. It is one of the most widely recognised chatoyant gemstones.
