Howlite Tumbled 1.5cm - 2cm
Naturally tumbled Howlite in a 1.5–2cm size, displaying an opaque white to pale cream body with distinctive grey-black veining throughout and a smooth, slightly matte finish. Each piece varies in the density and pattern of the veining. A popular choice for crystal collections, display bowls, and monochromatic decorative styling.
Howlite is a calcium borosilicate hydroxide mineral first described in 1868 by Canadian geologist Henry How, after whom it is named. It forms as nodular masses in evaporite deposits and is characterised by its white to grey body with grey-black veining caused by inclusions of other minerals. Howlite is notably porous, which makes it highly receptive to dyeing — it is widely used in the gem trade as a dyed simulant for turquoise, red coral, and lapis lazuli. The natural white specimens offered here are undyed. Major sources include Canada and the United States.
