Scolecite Tumbled 1.5cm - 2.5cm

Naturally tumbled Scolecite in a 1.5–2.5cm size, displaying a white to pale cream body with fine grey-black dendritic inclusions distributed throughout the stone and a smooth, slightly matte finish. Each piece varies in the density and pattern of the inclusions and slightly in overall shape. A distinctive and less commonly seen choice for crystal collections and display bowls.

Scolecite is a tectosilicate mineral belonging to the zeolite group, with the chemical formula CaAl₂Si₃O₁₀·3H₂O. It forms in the cavities and vesicles of basaltic volcanic rocks through low-temperature hydrothermal alteration, typically occurring as radiating fibrous or prismatic crystals. The tumbled form presents a very different appearance to the raw fibrous crystal, with the polishing process revealing the white to cream matrix and the fine dark dendritic inclusions within. Major sources include India (particularly the Pune region), Iceland, and the United States.
