Dumortierite Tumble
Polished Dumortierite tumbled stones with a mid-blue to denim-blue colour and a satin-to-gloss finish. This is the lighter, more granular variety of Dumortierite — the colour is a consistent medium blue with a slightly matte, fine-grained surface texture and visible mineral inclusions throughout. Sold per stone, approximately 2–3cm.
Dumortierite is an aluminium borosilicate mineral that typically occurs in a massive fibrous form. Its blue colour is caused by iron and titanium substitutions within the crystal structure. It is found in metamorphic rocks and is relatively uncommon as a tumbled stone, making it a distinctive addition to any collection. This lighter variety shows more of the stone's granular matrix compared to the darker, more glassy variety.
