Black Obsidian Tumbled 1.5-2cm
Naturally tumbled Black Obsidian in a 1.5–2cm size, displaying a deep jet black body with a mirror-like glassy finish and a subtle conchoidal sheen on some pieces. Each stone varies slightly in shape and surface reflectivity. A bold, striking stone that makes a strong visual statement in any crystal collection or display bowl.
Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed when silica-rich lava cools rapidly, preventing the formation of a crystalline structure. It is not technically a mineral but a mineraloid — an amorphous, glassy rock. Its characteristic jet black colour comes from the presence of magnetite and other iron-rich mineral inclusions within the glass matrix. Obsidian has been used by humans for tens of thousands of years, prized for its ability to fracture into extremely sharp edges — it was one of the most important tool-making materials of the Stone Age and continues to be used in surgical blades today. Major sources include Mexico, the United States, Iceland, and Ethiopia.
In crystal traditions, Black Obsidian is one of the most widely used stones for grounding and protection. Many people work with it to create a sense of energetic boundary and clarity, and it is often associated with the Root Chakra. It is said to help clear negative energy from a space and to support honest self-reflection.
