Black Kyanite Feather
A raw black kyanite fan specimen with multiple radiating blade-like crystals fanning outward from a central base in a striking feather or fan formation. The blades have a naturally striated, fibrous surface with a deep charcoal-black to dark grey colour and a subtle metallic sheen. Each specimen is entirely unique in blade count, spread, and natural character.
Kyanite is an aluminium silicate mineral that forms in sharp, blade-like crystals. It is most commonly found in blue, but also occurs in black, green, orange, and white varieties. Black kyanite in particular is known for its distinctive fan or feather growth habit. It is found primarily in Brazil and parts of Africa, and its name derives from the Ancient Greek word for blue — κύανος (kyanos) — the same root as the colour cyan. It is also known by the names disthene and cyanite.
In crystal traditions, black kyanite is associated with grounding and energetic clearing. It is a popular choice for display, collection, and use in crystal grids.
