Variscite Tumbled
Polished Variscite tumbled stones with a bright mid-green to vivid green colour and a high-gloss finish. This batch displays a more saturated, brighter green than our larger Variscite listing, with prominent warm amber-brown matrix patches and mottled patterning throughout. Sold per stone, approximately 2–2.5cm.
Variscite is a hydrated aluminium phosphate mineral that forms in arid regions where phosphate-rich water reacts with aluminium-bearing rocks. Its green colour is caused by chromium and vanadium impurities. It is often compared to Turquoise due to its similar green colour and matrix patterning, but is a distinct mineral. The warm amber-brown matrix in this batch is characteristic of the host rock material present during formation.
